Later this month, in Ecuador, former Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero plans to return to the field of play.
Aguero will be a guest player at the 2023 Noche Amarilla on January 28th, Ecuadorian sports club Barcelona S.C said in an official statement on Sunday.
Every year, Barcelona de Guayaquil hosts the Noche Amarilla, a friendly game starring a football legend. In 2016, Brazilian legend Ronaldinho took part in the game.
Since November 2021, Aguero has not played in a professional football game.
The 34-year-old last played in Barcelona’s 1-1 draw at home against Alavés, which turned out to be his last appearance before retirement.
During Barcelona’s match against Alaves in 2021, the Manchester City great was brought to the hospital with chest pain that was later determined to be cardiac arrhythmia.
On the recommendation of his physicians, Aguero eventually decided to retire from football the following month.
The former Atletico Madrid forward will, however, be making a comeback to the game in Ecuador later in January.
“I look forward to Noche Amarilla, to have fun and have a good time with the fans of Barcelona S.C.
“I have had check-ups from the cardiologist, I am very well and I have already started training, so I will be able to play in the Noche Amarilla,” Aguero said after Barcelona S.C confirmed he would feature in the friendly.
