Actor Kevin Spacey has entered a “not guilty” plea to new allegations of sexual assault brought against him in the UK.
Today, January 13, the 63-year-old star of the drama series “House of Cards” and the Oscar-winning movie “American Beauty” made an appearance at Southwark Crown Court in south London.
This comes after he was hit with further accusations in November involving one individual, bringing his total number of charges in the UK to 12. In a statement at the time, the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) of the UK stated;
“For a number of sexual assaults he committed against one guy between 2001 and 2004, Kevin Spacey, 63, is now facing fresh criminal charges from the CPS.
“One charge of forcing someone to engage in sexual conduct without their consent has also been approved by the CPS. The decision to file charges comes after an assessment of the information the Metropolitan Police obtained during its investigation.”
At the time of the revelation, Spacey was already facing four sexual assault allegations in the United Kingdom for allegedly assaulting three men between 2005 and 2008. In July, he entered a not guilty plea to the four accusations.
According to the outlet, a trial date has been set for June 6, the same day Spacey will show up in court for several accusations of sexual assault in London to which he pleaded “not guilty” in July.
Last month, the actor used Zoom to make an earlier court appearance to answer the allegations.
Beginning in 2017, Spacey initially encountered a number of allegations of sexual assault. The first came from 51-year-old Anthony Rapp, who said that the actor had made attempts toward him when he was just 14 years old.
Following Rapp’s assertion, Spacey both came out as homosexual and apologized for “what would have been profoundly inappropriate inebriated behavior.”
A New York City jury rejected Rapp’s allegations that the Oscar winner was guilty of violence in October, citing a lack of evidence.
