Piers Morgan made fun of Manchester United icon Rio Ferdinand by claiming that Casemiro’s performance against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night lost the Red Devils their victory.
When Bruno Fernandes gave Man United the lead shortly before halftime against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park, they were on track to record their ninth straight victory.
But late on, after pulling down Wilfried Zaha, Casemiro received his fifth booking of the 2022–23 campaign, which disqualified him from Sunday’s match against Arsenal. Things went south for Erik ten Hag’s team.
Michael Olise’s last-second free-kick salvaged a point as the game ended in a 1-1 tie, dealing Man United a second late blow.
In his tweet in response to Crystal Palace’s score, Morgan mentioned Ferdinand.
In preparation for Sunday’s match between Arsenal and Man United at the Emirates, the two have been debating who is better between Casemiro and Thomas Partey this week.
Ferdinand had said: “I don’t think Partey is good enough defensively to do what Casemiro is doing. I don’t think he has the impact to do defensively what Casemiro is doing for Man United.”
Piers responded on Twitter: “Hi @rioferdy5 if you genuinely think Partey isn’t as good as Casemiro then you’re in for a nasty shock on Sunday when he bullies your guy into submission and I get this trending again… #Tears4Rio”
Morgan said: “So, Casemiro got himself suspended for Sunday’s big match against Arsenal, and then missed an absolute sitter at the end to cost Utd victory. Better than Partey? Methinks not.. @rioferdy5.”
