Adesua Etomi-Wellington, an actress and the spouse of Banky W, a former Nigerian singer who is now a politician, talked about her feelings when her husband told her he was going into politics.
Adesua admitted in a current HipTV interview that she was originally concerned when Baky told her about his intentions to enter politics.
She did, however, remark that her concerns subsided once she saw he was working toward something greater.
“When Banky said he was going to go into politics, I was a little bit worried. I spoke about this many times before but I also believe that purpose is more important than fear. I want to see him prove purpose, so he has my support 100 percent.” She said.
In 2019, Banky W entered politics to run for Eti-congressional Osa’s district in the House of Representatives on the standard Modern Democratic Party platform, but she was unsuccessful.
He was defeated at the time by Babajide Obanikoro, the All Progressive Congress candidate (APC).
Refusing to give in, Banky W left the MDP in 2022 and joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), where he gained the nomination to run for a House of Representatives seat in the upcoming 2023 national elections.
