Erling Haaland chose the wrong team in Manchester City, according to former Premier League great Jamie Carragher, and his inclusion in Pep Guardiola’s side has made the team less effective.
He claimed that the playstyle of Manchester City could not bring out the most in the talented forward.
The striker had a rough Sunday because he barely made an impact in Tottenham’s 1-0 victory over Man City at the London Stadium.
Despite the fact that Haaland has 25 goals in his first 20 league appearances, Guardiola’s City is no longer in the same squad.
They are now five points adrift of Arsenal at the top of the standings following their loss to Spurs on Sunday.
The former England player asserted that not everything about the Norwegian goal machine is visible on the field and suggested that Haaland may have really chosen the wrong club to get the best out of him.
“He’s scored 25 league goals, but Manchester City as a club has scored the same number of goals, but they’ve given up more, and it’s far simpler to counterattack them as well,” said a sports analyst.
Erling Haaland on the team makes them a different, weaker team.
Haaland was transferred from Borussia Dortmund to the Etihad last summer for a total cost of £51.2 million by Manchester City.
The 22-year-old has been the standout of the English top division since signing a five-year contract to stay at City through 2027.
