Robert Pirès, a former midfielder for Arsenal, has disclosed that Zinedine Zidane wanted to take over as France’s national team coach from Didier Deschamps.
Zidane has never been secretive about his desire to manage Les Bleus in the near future.
Deschamps has, however, extended his agreement to run through the 2026 World Cup.
Zidane would then have to wait until Deschamps resigned from his position.
France’s national team was what Zidane desired, claimed Pirès.
Since his departure from Real Madrid at the conclusion of the 2020–2021 season, Zidane has been without a job.
