Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been encouraged to withdraw from the presidential race in favor of Peter Obi of the Labour Party, LP, and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP.
Atiku was advised to stop participating in politics and go back to Dubai, where he currently resides.
A social activist named Deji Adeyanju made the request in a tweet on Thursday.
“Atiku should go back to Dubai and retire from politics. He should exit the scene and leave Kwankwaso & Obi to become the new perpetual contestants,” Adeyanju wrote.
Atiku came second in the just concluded presidential election. The PDP flagbearer was defeated by Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Atiku and Obi had promised to file legal claims in court after the results of the election in an effort to restore their mandate that had been stolen.
Atiku and Obi thought they were denied victory in the election due to irregularities.
