Jürgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, has provided an explanation for his team’s 1-0 Premier League defeat to Bournemouth on Saturday.
At Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth defeated Liverpool to earn all three points as Klopp sat in the stands and watched.
For Jurgen Klopp’s team, Mohamed Salah missed a penalty during the game.
In his post-game news conference, Klopp claimed that Bournemouth’s victory over his club was the result of Liverpool’s missed penalty attempt and insufficient scoring opportunities against the home team.
The German went on to say that Bournemouth put up a fierce fight of their own and displayed their talent by keeping the ball away from the Liverpool players.
Klopp said, “I thought we started OK in the second half, were a bit clearer in our situations, get a penalty, miss the penalty. Now it’s of course, hypothetical – it looked a little bit for me like if we score there, it doesn’t make the game better from the first half, but it would give us a proper boost.
“But we did not score from that and then you could see we were a bit in a rush, did not create enough, in counter-attacking moments Bournemouth fought massively, with really big passion, won these balls and then the Bournemouth boys showed really their quality, how they kept the ball.
“
We could not defend them in the first place so we had to track back and defend them there. I can’t remember, maybe one big chance for them or a big finish, the rest we defended but it is still pretty exhausting and then you’ve a long way back into their box, and so we lost the game. Very, very, very frustrating, yeah.”
Liverpool’s subsequent Champions League match is now scheduled to take place on Wednesday against Real Madrid.
