Following the team’s 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday, Chelsea made the choice to fire Potter official on Sunday night. Potter assumed charge of the Premier League giants for 31 games after moving to Stamford Bridge in September, winning 12, drawing 8, and losing 10.
The Englishman agreed to a five-year contract with a yearly salary of £12 million. Consequently, the contract’s overall price came to £60 million.
To fire Potter, Chelsea had to pay off the remaining balance of his deal. Given that Potter has already spent six months, the entire process is anticipated to cost close to £50 million.
In addition, Potter brought a few members of the club’s backroom personnel. The cost may exceed £60 million because Chelsea is anticipated to pay them off as well.
