Wayne Rooney, a former player for Manchester United, has provided an explanation of why Manchester City may win the Champions League this year.
Rooney praised Pep Guardiola’s leadership abilities and the team’s remarkable performance all season long, saying he would gladly back him.
The former England star was adamant that this will be Manchester City’s year, even if he did not discount the talent of the other teams remaining in the race, including Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Inter.
“Since the start of the season, I’ve felt this would be the campaign when Pep Guardiola would finally conquer Europe,” he wrote in his column in The Times.
“But the biggest change is Erling Haaland, of course.” “Without Haaland, however, it wouldn’t have gotten to that stage.”
