Lionel Messi, the captain of Inter Miami, has expressed his satisfaction following the club’s maiden prize victory on Saturday.
After a thrilling penalty shootout at Geodis Park, Messi helped Inter Miami defeat Nashville in the Leagues Cup final.
In the first half, the captain of Argentina scored an incredible long-range goal to break the tie.
Fafa Picault, who scored in the second half from close range, offset his goal, and the game eventually finished in a 1-1 draw after 90 minutes.
After winning 10-9 on penalties, Inter Miami went on to win the Leagues Cup.
The shootout ended with Messi converting his penalty.
In response, Messi expressed his optimism that Inter Miami will go on to win many more trophies in a post on his Instagram account.
He wrote: “CHAMPIONS!!!. Very happy to get the first title in this club’s history. Everyone’s hard work and commitment made it possible. Hopefully, this is just the beginning… Let’s go @intermiamicf!!!!”
