According to rumors in France, Karim Benzema is thinking about taking legal action after vehemently disputing claims that he is associated with a terrorist group.
The former Real Madrid attacker was charged this week by France’s Interior Minister of having “notorious” ties to the terrorist organization The Muslim Brothers. The attacker secured an £86 million per year contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ittihad this summer.
The accusations were brought up after Benzema vented his resentment on social media over the ongoing crisis between Palestine and Israel.
A devoted Muslim of Algerian ancestry named Benzema declared that he was praying for the Palestinians who were suffering as a result of Israel’s “unjust bombings.”
He said on his Twitter X account, “All our prayers for the people of Gaza, once again victims of these unjust bombings that spare neither women nor children.”

When Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin stated on the CNews channel on Tuesday night that “The former French international was then condemned by his country’s MPs for having “reputable links with the Muslim Brotherhood.”
After Austria outlawed the organization under the new anti-terrorism law passed by its Parliament in July of that year, the Muslim Brotherhood was formally designated as a terrorist organization in 2021.
Along with six other nations, including Austria, it is also regarded as a terrorist group in Saudi Arabia. However, France does not recognize the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.
According to Le Parisien, Benzema’s lawyer has said that they are considering suing the member for slander and engaging in improper influence while in a position of responsibility.
“We are pressing charges against this minister in application, for example, of the law on the manipulation of information dear to our government and defamation or even public insult, because this nonexistent link with the Muslim Brotherhood, which he claims is notorious, is obviously presented as derogatory,” the attorney told a French media outlet.
According to reports, Benzema also intends to file a lawsuit against French MEP Nadine Morano, who also criticized his post by branding him an enemy of Israel.
