Victor Osimhen, a forward for the Super Eagles and Napoli, aspires to win the coveted Ballon d’Or award during his career.
Osimhen is one of the 30 athletes up for the Ballon d’Or in 2023.
The other Africans on the shortlist are Yassine Bonou, Andre Onana, and Mohamed Salah.
The favorites to win are Manchester City attacker Erling Haaland and Argentina captain Lionel Messi.
But Osimhen isn’t about to give up without grabbing the prize in his hands.
It would be more than a dream come true for me if I could eventually get closer to winning it. For me, just being able to play at this level is incredible. The Nigerian international said to Vox on TV Play and Mario Balotelli’s Twitch Channel, “If it comes, it comes.”
On Monday, October 30, 2023, the 67th annual Ballon d’Or ceremony will take place.
