The rumors that La Liga powerhouse Real Madrid is in negotiations with PSG sensation Kylian Mbappe have been called “completely false.”
The French World Cup champion has apparently decided to forfeit almost €100 million (£87 million) in loyalty payments that he would have been due, according to Spanish publication AS. This has supposedly allayed PSG’s fears that they might lose him for nothing in the summer of 2024. Previous rumors claimed Mbappe had given his approval in principle to join Real Madrid, but the Spanish powerhouses have refuted both of those claims.
Real Madrid CF would like to clarify that the information recently released and published by various media outlets, which speculates about purported negotiations between player Kylian Mbappé and our club, is entirely untrue and that no such negotiations have ever taken place.
Mbappe reportedly inked a one-year contract extension with PSG over the summer, but it has now come to light that he is free to leave the team in 2024 rather than 2025. The French player has been linked to a number of teams, including Liverpool and Real Madrid, and it appears that this transfer story may drag on for some time.
It’s likely that rumors over Mbappe’s future will persist until and during the January transfer window. PSG’s next match, for the time being, is a Tuesday away against AC Milan in the Champions League.
