Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, gave an explanation for why he declined to take a penalty during their 3-0 victory over Everton.
Thanks to a fantastic goal from Alejandro Garnacho, the Red Devils were already up.
The second goal, which came from the penalty spot after VAR determined that Ashley Young had tripped Anthony Martial in the box, prompted questions. Martial scored the third goal late in the game.
Rashford received the ball from Fernandes, the regular penalty taker.
In order to score his second goal of the year, Rashford hammered his penalty kick beyond Jordan Pickford.
Fernandes gave Sky Sports an explanation for his choice, saying, “Because Marcus needed a bit of confidence, he needed his goal.”
“He takes penalties really well. Marcus executed the penalty kick flawlessly, as I was certain he could.
“Obviously, scoring goals is a crucial aspect of a striker or winger’s game. Marcus could take on anyone and was unstoppable.
