Napoli has been notified by Arsenal that they will not fulfil Victor Osimhen’s €130 million (£110.8 million) release clause.
After coming just short of winning the Premier League this year, Mikel Arteta, the manager of the Gunners, wants to bolster his attacking options.
Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig is rumored to be one of the names on his list. He is free to leave the team after two seasons for €65 million (£55.2 million).
Even if Arsenal thinks highly of Osimhen, Sky Sports Italy reports that they are unwilling to make a deal because of the exorbitant price involved.
Although Aurelio de Laurentiis, the club president, is eager to sell Osimhen, Napoli is holding out for a team that can afford to pay the €130 million (£110.8 million) clause.
Osimhen is eager to stay in Europe, even though Saudi Pro League teams might pay such a large fee. The Serie A club has not yet received any firm approaches.
