Nigerian singer Qing Madi, whose real name is Chimamanda Pearl Chukwuma, has disclosed that her mother was a major influence in her professional life.
The 17-year-old singer gave her mother credit for recognizing her ability and motivating her to pursue a career in music.
Qing Madi said that her mother was more devoted to her talent than she was during an interview with reality star KimOprah for the Hip TV show Trending.
She went on to say that while she had many goals, becoming an artist was not one of them.
“I didn’t realize I could sing, my mom did. She was the one that was very forward with my career when I wasn’t passionate about it. “She wanted it more than I wanted it. I wanted to be a lot of things, not an artiste,” the ‘Adenuga’ crooner said.
Following the success of her 2022 single “See Finish” and its 2023 follow-up “Ole,” featuring BNXN, on TikTok, Qing Madi rose to notoriety.
