Legendary Nigerian singer 2Baba, also known as Innocent Ujah Idibia, has stated that he is still relevant in the music industry even with the new wave of Afrobeats artists dominating the scene.
The crooner known as “African Queen” stated that Afrobeats reached its current heights because of his own and his partners’ sacrifices.
In a recent interview with AFRIMMA, he made this claim.
Rather from being overly ambitious, he counseled aspiring artists to have faith in the process.
The music legend pushed them to learn from Burna Boy, emphasizing that before expanding to arenas and stadiums, he began his touring career by selling out local venues and developing a devoted following.
According to 2Baba, when Burna Boy sells out Madison Square Garden, other artists assume he is on par with them. Furthermore, that is unreal.
“You have to go through that entire process; he is aware of everything he went through to get to where he is. It took a while for Burna Boy to sell out Madison Square Garden; it didn’t happen overnight.
He began by performing at local locations, and from there he amassed a sizable fan base. And now you can see the outcomes. The method is the same. We are a part of the instrumental process, the sacrificers [laughs].
However, that doesn’t change the fact that I am still highly relevant. I’m still here, producing quality music.
