The enstoolment of the Gyasehemaa Nana Takyi-Enua III of Ekumfi Abor in January 2022, coincided with the presentation to the Abor community some projects undertaken by the Ekumfi Abor Professional Association (EAPA) in support of the Community Health-based Planning Services (CHPS) Compound in Abor.
The health post was without some basic equipment and infrastructural facilities, at the time of commissioning some two years ago, thus hampering effective and efficient heath service delivery to the locals.
As a result Nana Amoasi VII the Chief of the town appealed to few indigenes of the town to help with equipping the facility that serves the health need of the community and its environs.
In no time the Ekumfi Abor Professional Association (EAPA), a group of over 100 working professionals from the town responded to the call of the Chiefs and the people of the town. They committed to a project which involved building a Placenta Pit, a 50-seater shed for patients, and a 4-seater Toilet facility.
On Saturday 22nd January 2022 during the enstoolment of one of their members Mrs. Naomi Sablah as Gyasehemaa of Abor, the EAPA handed over the completed project to the health post, to serve the Abor Township and its catchment. The group also presented items such as Diapers, detergents, and washing bowls, to the parents of the first six (6) babies safely delivered at the facility since last year when the clinic received its first Mid-wife.
Some of the speakers at the event included the Director of Health of Ekumfi District Mr. Martin Sumani Daanko, and the Queen mother of Ekumfi Traditional Area Nana Benyiwa VI the Special Guest of Honour.
Receiving the facilities and some equipment presented by the EAPA, the Director of Health of Ekumfi District was full of praise for the group, promising to put the donations to proper use, in the interest of both staff and patients. He committed to ensuring that the facility receives accreditation and support to allow patients who visit the facility access the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) services, so they don’t have to travel to other facilities.
During the turn of Nana Benyiwa VI, she called for the support of other working professionals from Ekumfi, to help lift the image of the Traditional Area, and to tackle the social and economic hardship of the people. She applauded the efforts of the Ekumfi Abor Professional Association.
The object of EAPA is to help with the socio-economic development of the town by supporting the health, education, and the agricultural needs of the people. It is also to provide the platform for networking among all working professionals from Ekumfi Abor.
