According to reports, a Nigerian man committed suicide after a man who rained cash on his traditional marriage used a dollar bill to clean his face.
In a video clip shared online of a traditional wedding, the groom and bride could be seen dancing with joy while a man who appeared wealthy (reportedly the bride’s uncle) stepped forward and showered them with dollar bills.
While he was making money rain, the Master of Ceremony (MC) could be heard hyping him up, while the rest of the audience clapped and chorused a hail chant.
Money was strewn across the floor, and two ladies squatted down with bags to collect the massive amount.
At some point, the man moved closer to them and used one dollar bill to clean the bride’s face and another to do the same for the groom.
When he was finished, he walked away from the scene with the money in his hand.
“Onye Eze,” the people kept calling him as he flew away.
According to Okoro Queen, a Facebook user who expressed concern about the incident, the traditional marriage took place in January 2020 in Amaigbo, Imo State.
Within a month of their marriage, the husband committed suicide, resulting in his death in February 2022.
She also revealed that the man who sprayed the couple with money during their traditional wedding was an uncle to her.
