Real Madrid, despite playing exceptionally well in the second half of the PSG game, are not without flaws. There are some things that need to be done in terms of squad building, most notably the signing of a few players. There are numerous positions that require reinforcement, and Real must act quickly if they are to dominate European football for the next decade or so.
According to journalist Sami Mokbel, there is growing uncertainty among Chelsea’s star players about club owner Roman Abramovich’s recent sanctions. I’m sure you’ve read enough about it, so I won’t go into detail, but the point is that, according to the report, certain players may want to leave.
And it appears that Reece James is attracting interest from a number of clubs, including Real Madrid.
Real Madrid obviously requires a right-back immediately. Carvajal hasn’t been great or consistent in a long time, and the fact that he is prone to injuries makes matters worse. Carvajal’s backup is Lucas Vazquez, who, despite a great cameo against PSG in midweek, is still not good enough in that position, at least not consistently.
Reece James is an excellent two-way player and one of Europe’s best attacking full-backs. His crosses are precise, and he always makes the correct runs into the attacking third.
The Englishman would be an excellent overlapping presence alongside Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to sign a pre-contract with Real Madrid by the end of next week. Reece James would be ideal for the overlap because Mbappe tends to drift inside.
Although Reece James is not perfect defensively, he is still very good, and the few flaws he has on defense are more than compensated for in the offense. However, Real Madrid are not the only club interested in him; Manchester City is also interested in him as a replacement for the aging Kyle Walker. Real Madrid and Manchester City appear to be looking at the same players.
Obviously, given Chelsea’s situation, they may be forced to sell some of their players who are unsure about how things are going at the moment, and it remains to be seen what comes of it in the end.
