The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna state has lost an influential member of the ruling party. Former House of Representatives member Samaila Suleiman stated that his defection was motivated by the party’s alleged factionalization at the national level. Suleiman, who represented Kaduna North Federal Constituency between, remained silent on whether he would join another party.
Former House of Representatives member from Kaduna state, Samaila Suleiman, has defected from Nigeria’s ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). According to Premium Times, Suleiman resigned from the APC with immediate effect but has remained silent on his decision to join another political party.
Suleiman, who represented Kaduna North Federal Constituency from 2015 to 2019, announced his resignation in a letter dated Saturday, March 5 and sent to his ward and local government chairperson.
According to the lawmaker, he resigned due to the party’s internal democracy and factionalization, particularly at the national level. “I write to formally notify you of my decision to resign my membership in the APC,” he said. My decision was necessitated by the breakdown of internal democracy and factionalization within the party at all levels, particularly at the national level. “Please take note that the resignation is effective immediately. “Please find attached my membership registration card,” Mr Suleiman wrote in a March 5 letter.
Meanwhile, Fabian Ihekweme, the former commissioner for foreign affairs in the Hope Uzodimma administration, defected from the APC to the PDP. On Wednesday, February 23, the defection was announced at the Kanu Nwankwo stadium in Owerri, the capital of Imo state. The Imo state chapter of the PDP hosted a reception to welcome back the party’s national secretary, Samdaddy Anyanwu, as well as the national leadership, led by Iyorchia Ayu.
