Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been endorsed by a powerful northern youth group as the country’s next leader in 2023. The Northern Youth Council endorsed the former president for the position, stating that his experience is critical for Nigeria at this time. The president of the influential group, Dr. Isah Abubakar, stated that excos and members of the council will soon visit Jonathan and invite him to run in 2023.
Abuja, FCT – Dr. Isah Abubakar, president of the Northern Youth Council, has stated that the organization has endorsed former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan as the country’s next president.
He also praised the various groups that have been campaigning for the former president’s return to Aso Rock in 2023.
“I think inviting the former president to reconsider championing the affairs of this country is a great innovation.” Having served as President of Nigeria for the past six years or so, we believe Jonathan is capable, competent, and experienced enough to take our country to the next level while also building on what the current administration is doing in terms of infrastructure. We cannot deny that experience is required to govern any country. In countries with presidents under the age of 35 or 40, the elderly must have established templates that will allow them to run the country without supervision. We have cases in Nigeria where we have young governors, and what they are giving us is not satisfactory.
When asked what political platform the former president will run on if he enters the race, Dr. Abubakar said, “What really matters is someone who will take us back to blessed memory where we have that national unity, where we don’t feel bad about each other.” When Jonathan was president, he provided us with that platform. “Jonathan is the only one who has the heart to tolerate whatever comes his way.” Remember, he is the first sitting president in West Africa to lose an election and called Mr. President to congratulate him. As a result, we require people with forgiving hearts. People who can propel the economy to its intended destination.
