A 40-year-old man died in a car accident on his way to his wedding reception in Fumesua, Ashanti Region.
The incident happened on Sunday, following the marriage ceremony that had taken place that morning.
According to police, the groom, Mohammed Zakari Babangida, lost control of his Ford vehicle and veered off the road, ending up in a ditch.
“There was an accident involving a Ford Escape with the registration number AS-3222-21.” They were driving from Bomfa in Ejisu to Kumasi.
“When we arrived at Fumesua, a section of road, the information we received indicated that the driver of the Ford Escape was speeding, and as a result, he lost control of the steering wheel, hit a nearby culvert, and landed into a ditch.”

According to ASP Francis Mireku, the groom, who was driving the vehicle, was in critical condition and was rushed to the hospital, but died shortly after.
The other four occupants were injured and are receiving treatment.
