The Nigerian Army says an air strike killed 12 of the terrorists who attacked Kaduna International Airport on Saturday.
Uriah Opuene, Brigadier-General and Garrison Commander of Kaduna Division 1, stated this on Monday while briefing journalists on the development.
The commander also denied that the gunmen had taken over the airport.
“They just used that to send a message that they had attacked the airport,” he explained.
The airport has several layers of security. This is the first layer, and even it was not breached, because it only took our men about three minutes to get here from the next layer of security after hearing the shot.
” When we arrived, the bandits were already fleeing, so we engaged them with ground forces.”
“Then we ordered an air strike, and a helicopter was dispatched, and according to the air report, about 12 of the bandits were killed.”
As you can see from the distance, the claim that terrorists took over the airport is false.
“They would have met us there if the terrorists had entered.”
