Lai Mohammed, Nigeria’s minister of information and culture who also serves as the leader of the All Progressive Congress in Kwara State, has urged his party’s supporters in the state not to defect to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) (SDP).
This was revealed in a statement signed by the Minister in Abuja.
Despite their genuine dissatisfaction with the way and manner in which they have been treated by the Kwara State Governor and his supporters, and in light of their incalculable contributions to the party’s massive victory in the state in 2019, according to the minister, leaving the party is not the solution.
“We have taken our supporters’ grievances to the highest level of our party, and we have reason to believe that everything will be done to address the grievances and unite the party ahead of the 2023 elections,” he continued.
“As a result, I’m pleading with those who have left to reconsider their position and return to their natural habitat.”
“Leaving the party is not an option for me as a founding member of the APC, as someone who has toiled endlessly to build the party, and as someone who has worked with stakeholders to deliver Kwara State to the APC,” he added.
I am a genuine APC member who has no intention of leaving the party.
“Throughout my political career, I have always been loyal to whichever party I have found myself in. That isn’t going to change any time soon.”
He took advantage of the opportunity to once again call on the APC leadership to address the issues that have forced some APC members in Kwara to consider leaving the party.
