Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, provided reasons on Wednesday for why he is the ideal candidate to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) in 2023.
He claimed to be the bold one who could come in and bring about the essential transformation and growth across the country.
Tinubu addressed at a one-day meeting in Lagos with the existing Speakers and Deputy Speakers of APC-led states. The theme of the event is ‘The Legislature, Changing Times, and Nigeria’s Democratic Journey.’
Tinubu admitted that the country has enough human capital to undergo a meaningful transition, but he believes that the leadership capacity of those vying for the presidency should be prioritized.
“This is a really challenging period for us in the country, and we need to get the next leadership right,” Tinubu added. We need to think about the issue and bring in someone with a clear vision and the ability to deliver. Our country’s rapid development hinges on our ability to think, act, and be daring. I am a doer and a thinker.
“I was raised with courage, and it is this courage that motivates me to pursue my goal of a Nigeria that works for everyone.” We can rebuild this country and put an end to the carnage. What we need is visionary leadership to create the change we want to see. That is why I have approached you to ask for your help.”
The APC national head stated that he was willing to properly assume the mantle of national leadership through the ballot box, rather than attempting to grab political power through the back door.
He claimed to have the ability to actually restructure the country, pointing out that as Governor of Lagos, he took several unusual actions to boost the state’s economy.
Tinubu stated that if given the chance to become president, he would use his newfound capacity to bring the country’s potential to fruition.
“As much as I need Nigeria, the country requires my expertise.” With a wise, brave, and can-do attitude, I’ve set a good example. “I’ve never lost an election in my life,” Tinubu added.
