On Saturday, the Kano State Police Command apprehended Agbo Victor, a 33-year-old drug trader in possession of 250 packets of Cannabis sativa.
SP Abdullahi Haruna-Kiyawa, the command’s spokesman, confirmed this in a statement issued in Kano.
The suspect was apprehended by agents of the command while traveling in a car filled with suspected weeds at Kwanar Dangora in the Kiru Local Government Area of the State, according to Haruna-Kiyawa.
The suspect, according to Haruna-Kiyawa, carried the chemical from Edo to a drug dealer in Kano who is currently on the run.
According to him, the case was sent to the Criminal Inquiry Department’s Narcotics Section for discreet investigation by the Commissioner of Police, Samaila Shuaibu-Dikko.
The suspect would be charged in court once the inquiry was completed, according to the spokeswoman.
Haruna-Kiyawa urged the public to offer credible information to the police on suspicious persons and movements in their areas, while reiterating the command’s determination to rid the state of criminal activities.
