Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress and a presidential candidate, has urged Nigerian youngsters to alter the country’s story and stop bemoaning the past.
Tinubu spoke during a rally in Onikan, Lagos, on Saturday organized by youngsters under the banner of Progressive Youth of the South-West to promote his presidential bid.
“We can conveniently feed ourselves as a nation by being innovative, visionary, and committed,” he added. We can’t keep lamenting over the mistakes of the past. We can’t keep making excuses about power outages. Without electricity, no country has been able to develop rapidly. You can’t give us power and then blame us if we don’t succeed; you can’t give us an unreliable power source and then blame us again that we are lazy.
It’s about time, Nigeria. We have sufficient gas to generate energy, supply the rest of Europe, and profit. You’re aware of it. We don’t want to waste your time. We used to collect dead off the streets when I first started (as governor of Lagos State). Lagos is becoming one of the country’s cleanest and most developing states.”
In his remarks, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude for the support for Tinubu and urged delegates in the next primary to exercise their franchise carefully.
Dr Muritala Seriki, the state youth leader, praised Tinubu’s accomplishments, describing him as a “detribalized Nigerian.”
