Eddie Nketiah, an Arsenal attacker, is leaving his options open in terms of a senior international future, saying that he would welcome the chance to play for Ghana or England at the top level.
Because of his parents, the athlete can play for either Ghana or England to finish his trip with the Three Lions, as he has worn their colors since he was a child.
After the Black Stars booked their ticket to the 2022 World Cup in March, Nketiah’s name has come up in discussions about the team.
He is supposed to be on the Ghana FA’s want list as they hunt for players to add to the current national team setup ahead of the World Cup, but he has yet to make a decision, and he expressed his feelings on the Beautiful Game podcast, which aired on YouTube on April 19.
“Both of my parents are Ghanaians. It’s conceivable. I am willing to play for either Ghana or England.
Being from Ghana, you must be overjoyed that your country has qualified for the World Cup. I’m thrilled for [Thomas] Partey and other athletes like him. Thomas has been pleading with me to play for Ghana.
My club’s predicament takes precedence. My sole emphasis at the moment is on my club [Arsenal] and ensuring that everything is in order for next season.
When it’s done, I’ll be able to sit down and have that conversation with my family. It’s open to both [countries], and I’m not closing any doors. It’s fantastic to have the opportunity to do so.
