Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), warns the party’s internal conflict could hurt the party’s chances in the 2023 general election.
This was revealed in Adamu’s opening remarks during the APC’s 11th National Executive Committee NEC meeting, held at the Transcorp Hotel in Abuja.
According to the PUNCH, the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd. ), is present at the meeting.
The President is accompanied by his Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the APC Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, as well as other members of the National Working Committee, Board of Trustees, and state governors.
The NEC meeting is the first for the APC since its much-anticipated National Convention last month, where the President swore in new leadership after dissolving the Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker and Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.
Although the top topic for Wednesday’s NEC meeting is still being kept under wraps, the Party’s schedule of activities leading up to next year’s elections is expected to be at the top of the list.
Dates and pricing for the sale of nomination and expression of interest forms for all electoral positions, including the presidency, governorship, Senate, House of Representatives, and State House of Representatives, are included.
The manner of primaries the party will use in its primary elections next month, in compliance with the rules, will also be considered.
