Sam Ohuabunwa, a presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, has stated that being President of Nigeria is perilous.
This was revealed by Ohuabunwa in Awka on Saturday, when courting delegates from Anambra State ahead of the party’s primary election.
To meet the system’s hazards, he believes the country requires daring and strong leadership.
“Being President of Nigeria is perilous,” he remarked. “It goes beyond the physical to the spiritual.” In order to save the country, Nigeria’s president must be willing to stomp on toes and, if necessary, take the bullet, and I am willing to do so.”
When you consider the current state of the country, you would agree with me that everything about Nigeria is wrong, and there are many individuals who do not want change and will go to any length to prevent it, which is why becoming President of Nigeria is perilous.
“However, I am ready to take the courage, and if necessary, the bullet, to restore Nigeria to its former greatness, and I assure you that if elected, the story will change.”
Ohuabunwa, on the other hand, bemoaned the fact that some at the top don’t grasp the gravity of the country’s difficulties, as evidenced by his going to get a ministerial nomination form when university lecturers are on strike. I’m curious about the type of president we’ll have if those aspiring to be Nigeria’s president are unaware of the country’s difficulties.
When ASUU is on strike and people are clapping, a Minister of Education and a Minister of Labour went and gathered presidential nomination forms,” he stated.
Ohuabunwa further claimed that the demand for a Nigerian president of Igbo descent cannot be wished away, claiming that Nigerians are holding the Igbo down as well as herself.
“They don’t want us to be president because they know we’ll bring fairness, equity, and justice to Nigeria and alter the country.”
“However, as our people say, anyone who holds a strong man down on the ground is holding himself and, by extension, Nigeria behind,” he remarked.
