frontline Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), formally resigned as Minister of Transportation in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet on Monday in order to focus on his bid for the presidency in 2023.
Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, a frontline presidential prospect on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), officially quit his job as Minister of Transportation in President Muhammadu Buhari’s cabinet on Monday to focus on his bid for the presidency in 2023.
Amaechi in his resignation letter expressed heartfelt thanks to the President for believing him fit to serve in his government, according to a press statement published by the Amaechi Presidential Media Committee (APMC) in Abuja, signed by Kingsley Wali.
He also commended Buhari for his unwavering support, which he claimed was the driving force behind his remarkable achievements in the Ministry of Transportation over the last seven years.
“It is with mixed feelings that I tender my resignation as Minister of Transportation of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to fight for the Presidential ticket of our great party, the All Progressives Congress,” Amaechi wrote in his resignation letter, according to the announcement.
It has been a wonderful honour and joy, Your Excellency, to serve as a member of your government following your historic election victory in 2015. The Ministry of Transportation has achieved considerable progress under your leadership, thanks to your strategic support and commitment to ensuring that we fulfill our goal.
“As I begin the next chapter of our journey to make Nigeria a better place for ALL NIGERIANS, I humbly solicit Your Excellency’s prayers, blessings, and look forward to your continued support and direction.”
While humbly requesting your compassionate consideration of my request, please accept my promises of my utmost regard.”
Amaechi, the 56-year-old prototypical politician widely regarded as the top performing minister in Buhari’s cabinet, is usually regarded as the most qualified among those trying to secure the APC presidential ticket in 2023. He never showed the same level of fervor and intensity in his revolutionization of the transportation industry as any prior Minister of Transportation in the country.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Nigerian Port Authority (NPA), Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), and other agencies under his direct supervision have been dramatically transformed and repositioned for improved performance and efficiency in their operations.
