To put an end to rumors about his future at Anfield, Mohamed Salah signs a new three-year deal with Liverpool; Jamie Carragher says: “There’s no doubt that right now he’s a Liverpool legend and hopefully he can enhance that reputation over the next three years.”
Given that the Egyptian’s previous contract had just one year remaining, there were rumors he might leave the Reds next summer. He has, however, signed a contract that would pay him more than £350,000 per week through 2025.
However, I believe that now that Mane and Origi have left, Liverpool has perhaps added one forward player with comparable pay in Darwin Nunez. The fact that two players have left and one has entered suggests, in my opinion, that they may be able to approach the number Salah desired.
Everyone seems to be happy that Salah has signed, and I have no doubt that he can continue to deliver at the same level for the next three years as he did the past five.
The Sky Sports analyst Carragher thinks Liverpool used the money saved by losing forwards Sadio Mane and Divock Origi to make Salah the highest-paid player in the team’s history. Liverpool has a well regulated wage structure.
When asked whether he was relieved or elated by the news on Friday, Carragher responded: “A little bit of both.
It was disappointing to see that front three disband after losing Mane. In recent months, many Liverpool supporters had become somewhat resigned to the possibility that Salah may play out the last 12 months of his contract before moving on.
And if the club was not ready to accommodate the numbers he desired or believed he deserved, he might decide to quit.
Salah already enjoys legendary status at Liverpool, but Carragher is optimistic that the 30-year-old will maintain his recent levels of excellence over the course of the next three seasons.
According to Carragher, “The way he takes care of himself, I think he can be like a Cristiano Ronaldo and still score goals in the Premier League.”
“Given the way Salah lives his life, I believe there is a high probability that his numbers won’t decline at all over the next three years.
Salah is already a Liverpool legend, and he would still be one if he had left after a year. No matter when they leave the club or for what reason they leave, players like him, Alisson, Van Dijk, Mane, and the manager have changed the face of Liverpool Football Club, making them all legendary.
“I believe that the fans are extremely appreciative of what these players have given. Salah will end his career as one of the club’s top five or six players all-time. He’s undoubtedly a member of Liverpool’s greatest XI, and there’s no denying that he now holds that title. Hopefully, he can further cement his legacy over the next 3 years.
