According to reports, Cristiano Ronaldo will miss the start of the Premier League season.
The 37-year-old has been the subject of transfer rumors after declaring his wish to leave the team in order to play in the Champions League.
Ronaldo has not yet participated in any preseason practice sessions, since the Portugal international was allowed to miss the team’s tour of Thailand and Australia owing to personal obligations.
The Daily Mail is saying that Ronaldo will be absent from United’s season-opening match against Brighton & Hove Albion on August 7 with less than two weeks till the start of the new campaign.
Although the forward has been seen working out in Portugal, his absence during preseason has prevented him from getting much match experience before the new season.
While Ronaldo has yet to rejoin the team, United will play Atletico Madrid on Saturday before finishing the preseason campaign with a match against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday.
