FC Barcelona appear to be in a rush to get rid of Memphis Depay with only about a week left before the 2022–23 season commences.
Especially since the addition of several notable strikers to the squad, such as Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha, the Dutchman has fallen behind in the pecking order.
Depay has been informed by Barcelona of his declining role in the team, despite the fact that they haven’t officially placed him on the market. The player is willing to complete a transfer away from Camp Nou and is aware of his delicate circumstances.
Depay, though, wants to depart Barcelona on his own terms, according to a report from Mundo Deportivo.
He wants to leave Barcelona on a free transfer, which is one of his main requirements. The attacker, who originally signed with Barça on a free transfer in 2021, is aware that departing as a free agent may improve his chances of landing a lucrative contract.
The Dutchman aspires to be a part of an elite team. The player believes that he is competent enough to compete in the Champions League and is not content to play for a mid-tier or even Europa League club.
Juventus is one of the teams looking to hire the former Lyon starlet. Depay perfectly fills the description for the Bianconeri, who are aggressively searching for a successor for Paulo Dybala given his background and experience at the top level of football.
Barcelona are reluctant to grant Depay a letter of independence, though. Although the player wants to leave for free, they are hoping for a fee of about €20 million, and the club is anticipated to come up with a number of financial arguments that might persuade everyone.
