Pep Guardiola has vowed to support Roberto De Zerbi as the new manager of Brighton in games against other clubs than Manchester City, according to De Zerbi.
The Brighton position is Zerbi’s first in England, but the Italian had previously led teams in his native country, including Benevento and Sassuolo, and had a brief stint in command of Shakhtar Donetsk last season.
The 43-year-old continued, “I spoke to Pep on Sunday evening, sure. Pep was the one who convinced me to transfer to the Premier League. He’s overjoyed that I’m on board with this.
He assured me that the club was a good one and said he would be pleased to assist me if I needed it, but obviously not during the game we are playing against them.
