Unai Emery has been named the new manager of Premier League team Aston Villa, and he is anticipated to begin next month, subject to the outcome of his work visa application.
Emery is thought to have agreed to a three-year deal to succeed Steven Gerrard after Villa made the decision on Monday to pay Villarreal the £5.3 million provision to release him from his contract.
Emery, who led Arsenal for a little over a season before being fired, is set to make his Premier League comeback three years from now.
While Emery is awaiting the conclusion of his “work permit requirements,” caretaker manager Aaron Danks will once more be in control for Saturday’s match at Newcastle. Last year, Emery appeared poised to take over as Newcastle’s manager before having a change of heart.
In a statement, Aston Villa stated that it was “delighted to announce the appointment of Unai Emery as the club’s new Head Coach.”
‘Unai arrives from Villarreal, a team he helped win the Europa League by defeating Manchester United in the final in 2021 and get to the Champions League semi-finals the previous year.
Unai is a very seasoned coach with over 900 games under his belt. He previously managed in the Premier League while at Arsenal, guiding them to the Europa League final.
He also had considerable success when playing for Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain. He won the Europa League three times in a row in Seville between 2013 and 2016, and then he won the French Ligue 1 championship, two French Cups, two French League Cups, and two Trophée des Champions.
After his work visa processes are finished, “Unai will take over” on November 1.
Head coach Unai Emery has informed Villarreal CF of his unilateral decision to terminate his contract with the club, the club said in a statement confirming Emery’s departure.
In light of this, the Basque manager will depart the organization he joined in the 2020–21 campaign. He will have a goodbye press conference tomorrow at 12 p.m. CEST at the Training Ground, joined by the Yellows directors.
Emery has earned a place in Villarreal CF history as the first coach to win a championship with the team, the UEFA Europa League, as well as the historic accomplishment of reaching the Champions League semifinals last season and assisting the team in qualifying for two consecutive seasons of European competitions.
Unai Emery is appreciated by Villarreal CF, which also wishes him luck in his future endeavors.
Miguel ngel Tena, the organization’s director of football, will preside over the team’s training session tomorrow at 5 p.m. CEST at the Training Ground (the first 15 minutes will be open to the media) and will do so in the interim until the organization names a new head coach.
