Through an official video the Spanish defender uploaded on his social media, Gerard Pique has announced his exit from Barcelona. Even though there have been rumors that Barça wants him to leave, everyone is completely taken aback by this.
Pique has made it clear that he will be retiring from the game completely, as he said: “I’ve always said that I would never wear another jersey after Barcelona. And that’s how it will be.”
The defender declared that his final match at Spotify Camp Nou will be the next contest with UD Almeria.
Barcelona’s match against Almeria is not, however, their final match before the World Cup. On November 8, they will play a road match against Osasuna, but it appears that Pique won’t be going with the team.
We can certainly expect Pique to receive one last enthusiastic reception from the stadium that has supported him for the past 15 years, but Barcelona has yet to make any announcements in this regard.
