Carlo Ancelotti, manager of Real Madrid, has dispelled rumors that Karim Benzema is defending himself ahead of the World Cup.
The absence of Benzema from the LaLiga team’s last three matches raises concerns about whether he is being held back in preparation for the tournament in Qatar.
He’s attempted [to play], but he hasn’t been able to return with this discomfort, Ancelotti said during a press conference.
“It’s not a lot. He has attempted to be available, but he has not been successful.
“Karim is the first to be disappointed,” the Madrid manager continued. He won’t get the playing time he needs to get in shape before the World Cup. Although he has been working alone to resolve a little issue, he hasn’t felt well enough to play a game.
“Karim himself is the most dissatisfied because he will play a World Cup as the Ballon d’Or winner without having logged many minutes in the preliminaries,” said a source.
