Following his superb performance in Tuesday’s 1-0 World Cup victory over Switzerland for Brazil, Chelsea center-back Thiago Silva has received high praise from Manchester United icon Gary Neville.
Silva delivered a superb effort as Brazil defeated Switzerland thanks to a late goal from Casemiro.
Brazil now has a game in hand and will advance to the round of 16 of the World Cup as a result of the outcome.
After Brazil trounced Switzerland, Neville told ITV, “I don’t know how Thiago Silva, at his age, is still driving up that pitch.”
“I think back at my career, to get in front of your forward all the time, to try and win it, is one of the hardest that you try and do – he is still doing that late into his thirties – it is unbelievable.”
Silva has so far made 111 appearances for Brazil.
He presently holds the fifth-highest total of appearances for Brazil, after only Neymar, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, and Dani Alves.
