Lianne Sanderson, a former England player, has praised Kylian Mbappe of France, calling the Paris Saint-Germain star a potential Ballon d’Or winner.
In the opening round of the first sixteen games on Sunday, the World Cup champions trounced Poland. Senegal and England will play in the second game of the day.
Olivier Giroud’s first goal, which Mbappe also helped on, gave him the advantage over Thierry Henry and made him France’s all-time leading scorer with 52 goals.
With 15 minutes remaining in the game, the PSG star scored a long-range goal. He then added a second goal, the third for France, late in the game, curling a beautiful attempt into the top-right corner.
With the two goals, he has now scored five times in the Qatar 2022 World Cup and nine times overall.
“You can see that he is a world-class athlete. He will eventually win the Ballon d’Or. Lianne Sanderson said on talkSPORT, “If you’re a defender coming up against him, you simply hope he has an off-day.
