Olivier Giroud, a former striker for Arsenal and Chelsea, has unexpectedly become a transfer target for Manchester United in this January.
The Frenchman who assisted France in winning the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar is wanted by the Red Devils.
The AC Milan striker’s contract expires in June, and the Italians have not yet extended it.
The 36-year-old played for Arsenal for six years before moving on to rival Chelsea, where he played for three.
The Frenchman won three championships while he was a Chelsea player, including the Champions League.
In 19 games played for AC Milan so far this season, he has scored nine goals.
Erik ten Hag, manager of Manchester United, remarked, “With many games coming up, I think there is a need,” when asked about adding a striker following Cristiano Ronaldo’s acrimonious exit from Old Trafford.
The reason the Red Devils want to sign Giroud is because the seasoned striker will present a physical and aerial danger that Anthony Martial cannot.
According to The Times, Giroud is a target, although Milan is expected to extend new terms to him.
