Declan Rice of West Ham United has been advised by Arsenal great Emmanuel Petit to pass on a move to Chelsea and sign with London rivals Arsenal instead while the January transfer window is still open.
Prior to Chelsea, Petit claimed that Rice would be a wonderful fit for Arsenal.
During the formative years of his career at Stamford Bridge, Rice was let go by Chelsea.
In recent years, the England international’s potential return to Chelsea, his childhood club, has been frequently mentioned.
But Petit, a former player for both Chelsea and Arsenal, feels that given the way Mikel Arteta’s team is doing this year, Rice would be better off joining them.
“I am aware that Chelsea is interested in Declan Rice, but if I were Declan Rice, I would choose Arsenal over Chelsea. According to the way Arsenal is playing, the two clubs are moving in opposite paths, he told Compare.Bet.
“He’d be the ideal choice for Arsenal.”
