Bruno Fernandes, the captain of Manchester United, has spoken on the contentious goal he scored against Manchester City on Saturday in the Premier League.
In the Manchester derby, Manchester United overcame a goal behind to defeat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City 2-1 and reduce the distance between themselves and their noisy neighbors to just one point.
Marcus Rashford appeared to be obviously offside when he chased down Casemiro’s pass from an offside position but did not make touch with it, and Fernandes scored a very contentious goal as a result.
The England international sent the ball to Fernandes, who scored a goal for the Red Devils to tie the score.
He said, “I was facing the goal and Michael felt I was in a better position. I didn’t tell him to leave the ball.
“I didn’t even know if any of us were in an offside position or not because no one was close to him
“So he didn’t influence anything. It’s a goal at the end of the day.”
