Luka Modric, a midfielder for Real Madrid, has acknowledged that he didn’t often see Lionel Messi, a former captain of Barcelona, wearing a PSG jersey.
After Barcelona was unable to prolong his contract due to La Liga rules, Messi signed a two-year contract with PSG last summer.
The Argentine, in his first season with the team, scored 11 goals and registered 15 assists across all competitions, contributing to PSG’s Ligue 1 championship.
However, PSG was eliminated by Real Madrid, who went on to win the competition, and the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner was unable to lead them to victory in the UEFA Champions League.
Modric, who frequently faced Messi in Clasicos, said in a statement to Sportske: “It was unusual to see (Lionel) Messi, after so many Clasicos, in another shirt. They were a collection of talent with Neymar and Mbappe.
“But we are Real Madrid, and when we find our rhythm, with the fantastic support of the fans, we simply crush them. It was a spectacular night, one of the most impressive for me, and I have experienced many at Real Madrid.”
