Conor Gallagher, a midfielder for Chelsea, declined the opportunity to move to Everton when the Toffees made a £45 million bid for his services during the January transfer window.
To the extent that Chelsea can reach an agreement with Benfica for Argentina player Enzo Fernandez, they are willing to consider offloading a midfielder before the January transfer window closes on Tuesday night.
Sean Dyche was confirmed as Everton’s new head coach on Monday afternoon, and the club is now looking to bolster its roster.
Before Tuesday’s transfer deadline, Dyche’s team reportedly put up a bid of £40 million plus an additional £5 million in add-ons to sign Gallagher.
According to the report, Gallagher would decline a transfer to Everton because he is holding out for a team that is in the Premier League’s top six.
