In his search for a new central midfielder, Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has now turned his focus to Jorginho of Chelsea.
SportsMail reports that although a deal is still far off, preparations for the transfer have begun.
Before the transfer deadline on Tuesday, it might be finished.
This comes after Arsenal spent the whole Monday debating whether to submit a third offer for Moises Caicedo of Brighton out of concern that doing so may sour their relationship with the club.
Gunners executives were debating whether to increase their most recent offer of up to £70 million.
However, Arsenal has begun to consider alternatives, with Chelsea midfielder Jorginho emerging as their top choice.
