Lionel Messi, the captain of Argentina, has not ruled out competing in the 2026 World Cup.
The 35-year-old acknowledges that it will be challenging to compete in the competition due to his advanced age.
Messi declared that the competition in Qatar in 2022 would be his final.
Messi has now said he would be open to competing in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in three years.
“In 2026, it’ll be challenging to succeed due to age.
“I love playing football, so I’m going to keep at it as long as I feel healthy and enjoy it.”
The Argentine newspaper Diario Olé quoted Messi as saying, “It seems like a long time until the next World Cup, but it depends on how my career is going.”
