Victor Osimhen’s improvement throughout the years has been explained by Luciano Spalletti, manager of Napoli.
Osimhen scored twice as the Partenopei defeated Bundesliga team Eintracht Frankfurt 3-0 on Wednesday night to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
The international from Nigeria scored in the first leg as well.
The team led by Spalletti won the Round of 16 match 5-0 overall.
A stunning header by Osimhen late in the first half gave the game its first goal.
As Giovanni Di Lorenzo, the team’s captain, put him up, the forward added a second goal in the 53rd minute.
“He is an excellent striker who can be a bit of a soloist and makes these sudden surges, but he also has to combine with the rest of the team. He is starting to do that now and we are very happy,” Spalletti told Sky Italia after the game.
In 28 appearances for Napoli this season, Osimhen has now netted 23 goals in all competitions.
